ADHD Coaching
Find Focus, Build Systems, Reach Goals

What is ADHD coaching?

ADHD coaching is a supportive, skills-based partnership designed to help people living with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder create structure, reach goals, and feel more in control of daily life. Coaching focuses on the challenges that often come with ADHD, such as managing time, staying organized, following through on plans, and regulating emotions, and helps you find strategies that actually fit your unique brain. Together, you and your coach explore what is getting in the way and develop personalized tools to help you move forward with clarity and confidence.

Who benefits from ADHD coaching?

ADHD coaching can be helpful for adults, young adults, and teens who:

  • struggle to start or finish tasks

  • often feel overwhelmed by responsibilities, time, or clutter

  • have difficulty planning, prioritizing, or organizing their day

  • want to strengthen focus and follow-through

  • need structure, accountability, or motivation to reach goals

  • want to build self-confidence and reduce shame around ADHD challenges

Coaching can also benefit parents who want to better support a child with ADHD by learning how to set consistent routines, encourage independence, and communicate effectively.

How ADHD coaching is different from therapy

Therapy often focuses on understanding the past, healing emotional wounds, and addressing mental health conditions. ADHD coaching focuses on the present and future. It is practical, collaborative, and action oriented. Coaching is about building habits, systems, and strategies that help you live the life you want. Many people find that therapy and coaching work well together. Therapy offers emotional insight, while coaching helps you apply that insight to your daily life.

What to expect in a coaching session

Each session is collaborative and tailored to your goals. You can expect:

  • a clear plan and focus for each meeting

  • small, realistic goals that build momentum

  • tools and techniques for time and task management

  • space to reflect on what is working and what needs adjustment

  • accountability and encouragement between sessions

Sessions may include shared planning, habit design, and simple experiments to test strategies in real time. The goal is to help you create systems that are flexible, sustainable, and personal to you.

Common tools and strategies used in ADHD coaching

  • personalized planner and calendar systems

  • time blocking and use of timers or alarms

  • breaking large goals into manageable steps

  • minimizing distractions in your environment

  • developing routines for mornings, evenings, and transitions

  • visual reminders and checklists for memory support

  • accountability structures to maintain progress

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does coaching take?

Everyone’s journey is different. Many clients begin with weekly or biweekly sessions for the first few months to build consistency and momentum. Over time, sessions may move to a monthly or as-needed basis. Your coach will work with you to design a schedule that fits your goals, comfort level, and availability.

Do I need an ADHD diagnosis to work with a coach?
No. Many people begin coaching while they are waiting for an assessment or simply because they identify with ADHD challenges and want support.

Is ADHD coaching a replacement for therapy or medication?
No. Coaching does not replace therapy or medical care. Instead, it complements them by focusing on practical tools and accountability.

Are sessions virtual or in person?
You can choose what works best for you. Coaching is available both virtually and in person at Authentic Living London.

Is coaching confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is an essential part of the coaching relationship. You can feel safe discussing your goals and challenges openly.
